My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This title HOLD STILL by Lisa Regan, well, all I can say is, HOLD STILL for a superb ride.
This starts off with a hijacking of a car where unbeknown to the hijacker, in the back of the car sits a little child. There is more that happens in this instance but I am not going to give anything a way.
They end up in the hospital. There detective Jocelyn Rush whose child was in the car is being seen to at the emergency when she discovers a woman she has history with on the beat [Anita] a well known prostitute. Detective Rush knew that Anita gave up prostitution so was wondering what had happened to her. She discovers not only has Anita been raped, but also crucified. Therein starts a story, a round of stories that lead on to many things and many major happenings.
This sizzled with suspension, crackles with unknown avenues and corners you dare to go around.
Its a very cleverly written book, it certainly kept me on my toes!
Having never read any of Lisa Regan's before this is now going to change. I think I've discovered a new authors to add to my 'thriller' list.
Thanks goes to the author, the publisher Amazon Publishing via Net Galley for providing me with a copy for me to read and review
After years as a patrol cop, detective Jocelyn Rush is almost immune to the depravity that stalks the meaner streets of Philadelphia…almost. After saving her three-year-old daughter from a carjacking, she ends up in the emergency room—and discovers that Anita, a former prostitute and acquaintance from her old days on the beat, has been hideously mutilated in a brutal assault.
With the help of her partner and Philadelphia’s Special Victims Unit, Jocelyn discovers that Anita isn’t the first victim of these attacks and it looks like she won’t be the last. When the violence hits closer to home, Jocelyn knows she must do whatever it takes to stop the sadistic attacker—even if it means confronting a terrible secret from her painful past.
Award-wining author Lisa Regan’s Hold Still is a captivating thriller that crackles with intensity.
