Christmas at Lilac Cottage by Holly Martin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
You just have to make time for at least one Christmas book don't you? I made room for 3 this year and this book is one of a series.
This kicks off very well.
We meet Penny, all is well in her world, she lives in a lovely little cottage, all christmassy with fairy lights around the door. A smashing view of White Cliff Bay.
Her job is sculpturing lovely things from ice. She loves what she does and has a great talent for it.
Next to her cottage is an annex which she rents out. She has rented it to Henry and his daughter Daisy.
Penny finds Daisy open and nice to talk to. Easy going but her Father Henry seems like a closed book.
Just like chiseling away at her ice, should she chisel away at Henry's block of ice that seems to surround him.
But Henry isn't the only one with an iced heart, Penny keeps hers guarded too.
Coming up is the sculpture ice competition which Penny is so looking forward to.
This has started out a lovely sweet story, which may be predictable in some ways, but it is it full of Christmas joy and love.
I can't wait to go onto book 2 in this series.
